Swiss AI insights by SAIROP

Imagine you are one of 500,000 people with diabetes mellitus in Switzerland and driving your car. While driving, your blood sugar drops… and you don’t notice it. You don’t even want to start picturing what could happen.

With their “HEADWIND” project a team of researchers from the Inselspital University Hospital Bern, University of Bern, ETH Zurich and the University of St. Gallen aims at decreasing the risk of accidents for people with diabetes. With innovative approaches and supported by artificial intelligence, they try to detect hypoglycaemia in real time using already available vehicle data.

Prof. Dr. med. Christoph Stettler, Director of the University Clinic for Diabetology, Endocrinology, Nutritional Medicine & Metabolism at the Inselspital and Full Professor at the University of Bern, presents the challenges of this endeavour, the results of their research and the main findings of the project in this new event format.
